The national project on media literacy “Filter” initiated a public discussion on “How to develop the critical thinking of the audience?” in the framework of Lviv Media Forum 2021.
During the discussion, journalist Ilona Dovgan, bloggers Artem Albul, and Anhelina Lomakina talked about how socially responsible bloggers and journalists can popularize the skill of critical thinking in their audiences and make it a lifestyle for Ukrainians.
Anhelina Lomakina, who works at Detector Media NGO, emphasized modern ways of popularizing critical thinking:
“During the pandemic, TikTok became very popular. People needed communication and made videos. You can be natural there, without squeaky-clean posts, which are characteristic of other social networks. At Detector Media, we decided to talk about serious things in an easy manner. And it worked”.
Ilona Dovgan mentioned a comprehensive approach:
“Media literacy is about consistency. It should not be in a separate region or media. It should be supported by all institutions.”
Blogger Artem Albul shared his observations:
“It’s no wonder that people trust bloggers more than their loved ones. There is such an effect that the blogger becomes your good friend.”
