Filter invited Ukrainian media representatives to an informal meeting to find the best ways to promote media literacy.
Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy, Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy, and Valeria Kovtun, Head of Filter Media Literacy Project, participated in the event. Ms Kovtun emphasized the priorities and strategic goals in project activities and revealed the list of future initiatives.
“I would like to underline once again that the dialogue between the authorities and the public is extremely important. To work and make decisions together is the key to adequate and fruitful cooperation. This is the only way we can reach a consensus. That is why the presentation of the Media Literacy Filter project takes place with the involvement of the media community,” Oleksandr Tkachenko emphasized.
Taras Shevchenko noted the importance of partnership cooperation:
“One of the keystones of Filter project is cooperation and partnership. Quality and successful results can only be achieved with the support of such partners as IREX, the British and Swedish embassies, and others”.
Valeria Kovtun also reflected on the level of trust in the mass media:
“Trust in the media is one of the important elements that directly influence the media literacy index. Therefore, support from the media and their manifestations of social responsibility is crucial in the implementation of national initiatives on media literacy. We are always happy to hear comments and suggestions from media representatives to choose the most effective formats and narratives to promote media literacy”.
